The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is committed to improving the health of Texans through effective, equitable, and safe delivery of healthcare services. The annual Healthcare Safety Conference communicates information to healthcare and public health partners to advance safe and trusted healthcare together. We hope you will join us for the event this year!

Conference Objectives
The purpose of the conference is to share new approaches to healthcare safety, expand infection prevention and control training, and provide updates on emerging public health threats and the state’s healthcare safety initiatives.

Who Should Attend 
The targeted audience is a combination of infection control practitioners, quality and patient safety professionals, and public health partners.

Continuing Medical Education:
The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service is accredited by the Texas Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service designates this live event for a maximum of 7.00 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing Continuing Professional Development:
The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service has awarded 7.00 contact hours of nursing continuing professional development.

Certified Health Education Specialists:
Sponsored by The Texas Department of State Health Services, Continuing Education Service, a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES®) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES®) to receive up to 3.50 total Category I contact education contact hours. Maximum advanced-level continuing education contact hours available are NA.
