The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Healthcare Safety Unit (HSU) invites speakers to present on healthcare safety-related topics such as patient safety, quality improvement, infection prevention and control, health equity, health literacy, and health and wellness.
The Healthcare Safety Conference gathers healthcare and public health professionals across Texas. The event shares new information on infection prevention and control training, the state’s healthcare safety initiatives, and emerging public health threats.
Conference Target Audience:
Infection control practitioners, quality improvement and patient safety professionals, epidemiologists, data analysts, medical professionals, healthcare administrators, public health partners, and more.
Speaker Highlights:
The Healthcare Safety Conference promotes learning and networking opportunities. Over 900 individuals attended the 2024 Conference. Speakers have access to multiple sessions, posters, and exhibitor booths. Additionally, speakers are reimbursed for hotel and transportation expenses.
If you are interested in sharing your expertise and meaningful insights with a large audience to help build a “safer tomorrow,” we encourage you to submit a proposal.
How to Submit:
Submit the online form by 11:59 pm (CDT) Monday, March 17, 2025.
- Speaker Requirements:
- Exhibit a high level of professionalism.
- Provide Continuing Education and conference requests information by stated deadlines.
- Allow video recording of your presentation.
- Engaging in questions with attendees to ensure interactive session.
- Speakers SHALL NOT solicitate or promote a business, practice, service, or product during the presentation.
- Speaker Guidelines:
- Only one speaker per presentation submits the online form (i.e., each speaker does not submit a separate proposal; in the section below, designate a primary speaker and list any/all additional speakers).
- Acceptable presentation formats include lectures, panel discussions, workshops, or case studies; must be 45-60 minutes.
- Spell out or define acronyms and abbreviations at first use (even acronyms considered common by the speaker). Acronyms in the title are acceptable if they are spelled out or defined first use in the proposal description.
- All sessions must provide educational development and/or strategic value; sessions must have tangible takeaways for the attendees.
- Presentation slides must be created using PowerPoint.
- Proofread the proposal for typographical and grammatical errors.
- Selection Process:
- The Healthcare Safety Conference planning committee reviews proposal and decides accepted presentations. Reviewers are blinded to speaker names.
- Speakers are notified via email whether their presentation is selected by Friday, March 28, 2025.
- The planning committee works with speakers to decide the best day and time to present.
