In 1987, the 70th Texas Legislature created the Toxic Substances Coordinating Committee (TSCC). It is in SE 537, Sec. 2(h) of the Health Risk Assessment Act. The purpose of the TSCC is to coordinate communication among member agencies. The goal is to coordinate each agency’s efforts to regulate toxic substances and harmful physical agents.

Our mission is to protect and promote the health of the people of Texas. We work to prevent and control adverse health effects related to toxic substances and harmful physical agents. Through interagency coordination we aim to:

  • coordinate regulation development
  • produce health risk assessments,
  • cooperate in studies,
  • distribute information between agencies, and
  • assist in public education efforts.
