The Texas Department of State Health Services, Radiation Control Program, has the important mission to protect and promote the physical and environmental health of the people of Texas.

Who We Are  

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) was initially involved in radiological health activities as early as 1947. We strive to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure to the public through effective licensing, registration, inspection, enforcement, and emergency response.

Exemption For Dose Calibrators During Tc-99m Shortage

Due to the global shortage of technetium-99m and consulting with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the department is applying a generic exemption regarding dose calibrator testing (e.g. linearity) in accordance with national standards.
