Public Health Region 9/10 Offering Mpox Vaccinations

Mpox vaccines are available by DSHS Public Health Region 9/10, located in west Texas through Dec. 23, 2024. Clients needing a second dose after Dec. 23, 2024, will need to find an alternate provider.

The JYNNEOS vaccine has been shown to prevent mpox and is FDA approved. Individuals that meet one or more of the criteria listed below may be able to receive a mpox vaccine, as supply allows.

Groups prioritized for vaccine:

  • Gay, bisexual, and men who have sex with men who in the past 6 months have had:
    • A new diagnosis of one or more nationally reportable sexually transmitted diseases (i.e., acute HIV, chancroid, chlamydia, gonorrhea, or syphilis)
    • More than one sex partner
  • People who have had any of the following in the past 6 months:
    • Sex at a commercial sex venue
    • Sex in association with a large public event in a geographic area where mpox transmission is occurring
  • Sexual partners of people with the above risks
  • People who anticipate experiencing the above risks
  • People in certain occupational exposure risk groups
