It then presents the range of immediate interventions for an unstable baby, focusing on airway, breathing, and cardiovascular interventions.
The Nursing Assistant: Transfer and Ambulation Skills

This program teaches nursing assistants how to assist with transfer and ambulation in a way the protects the safety of both patient and healthcare provider. Care providers often assist persons with impaired mobility to walk and move to wheelchairs, toilets, and beds. It demonstrates how to perform a pivot transfer from bed to wheelchair and back, a pivot transfer from wheelchair to toilet and back, a two-person lift from bed to wheelchair, and a transfer using a mechanical lift.

Universal Waste

Disposing of hazardous waste can be a long and complicated process, but some hazardous waste materials are less harmful to people and the environment than others. To make it easier to recycle these low-risk hazardous waste materials, the EPA created a different class of hazardous waste called universal waste. This program discusses the types of hazardous materials that are considered to be universal waste, and how to handle and dispose of them according to the EPA Universal Waste Regulation. Topics include what items are classified as universal waste, the different types of waste handlers, how to dispose of batteries, pesticides, and mercury-containing equipment, and how to dispose of lamps and aerosol cans.

Coping with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

In this program, viewers learns that trauma occurs in many ways and the effects of trauma often persist long after the traumatizing incident. When this occurs, it is called post-traumatic stress disorder. In this program, Dr. Ravi Thadhani talks about a blood test approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Roughly one in 25 pregnancies in the U.S. is affected by preeclampsia, according to the CDC.

To The Point About: Personal Fall Arrest Systems

Elevated working surfaces provide potential for falls. Should a fall occur, the proper use of a personal fall arrest system can prevent injuries and save lives. This training program reviews the proper selection and use of fall arrest equipment (OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1926.502). Safe Use and Operation of Forklifts

This DVD has the following chapters: fire safety; burn hazards; choking, suffocation and strangulation hazards; the safe baby; preventing falls; drowning prevention; poison patrol; hazards in the air; and preparing for emergencies. It explains the dangers of lithium batteries. It has the most recent SIDS prevention guidelines as well as the current recommendations for baby gates and car seats. The full-length version of this program is 41 minutes. A shorter, 20-minute version is also included.

Seatbelt Safety
