OCS intends to center equity in this funding opportunity, focusing these resources in persistent high-poverty areas with struggling economies that have been unable to put forth a viable CED project in the past. The goal of this funding opportunity is to provide CDCs with financial assistance for administrative capacity building. The awards will be a crucial step in connecting CDCs with CED resources for social and revenue reinvestment in local communities to help spark economic growth. OCS is encouraging applications from CDCs that target urban and rural areas. Award: 10 awards of $75,000 - $150,000. Geographic Scope: Nationwide

AHRQ: Using Innovative Digital Healthcare Solutions to Improve Quality at the Point of Care (July 17, 2024)
Funding for research projects that test promising digital healthcare interventions aimed at improving quality of care and healthcare services delivery at the point of care. This FOA will use the Phased Innovation Award (R21/R33) mechanism to provide up to 2 years of R21 support for initial developmental activities, and up to 3 years of R33 support for expanded activities. Award: In the R21 phase, the combined budget for total costs (direct and indirect) for the two years may not exceed $275,000. No more than $200,000 in total costs may be budgeted in either year of the R21 phase. In the R33 phase, the combined budget for total costs (direct and indirect) for the three-year period may not exceed $750,000. No more than $300,000 in total costs may be budgeted in any given year. NIH: Adaptation of Diabetes Control Technologies for Older Adults with T1D (July 17, 2024)
The main objective of this NOFO is to foster the development and testing of technologies adaptable to aging-related changes in older adults (aged 65 years or older) with T1D to improve diabetes management and quality of life. Older adults may have increased vulnerability to hypoglycemia, cognitive impairment, and/or multiple co-morbidities which may affect the risks and benefits of these technologies in this population. Projects will be funded to a) develop and test new technologies and b) to adapt and test existing technologies. It is expected that aging-adaptive diabetes technologies that address barriers to use among older adults with T1D will improve usability, adoption, and adherence decreasing the risk of hypoglycemia (and hypoglycemia unawareness) while enhancing glycemic control, facilitating better diabetes management, and improving quality of life for these individuals and their caregivers. Award: Up to $500,000. Geographic Scope: Nationwide
NIH: Firearm Injury Prevention in Community Healthcare Settings (July 26, 2024)
The purpose of this initiative is to advance research that reduces firearm injury and disparities through the development and evaluation of firearm injury primary prevention interventions leveraging community healthcare settings. Community healthcare settings include locations where individuals interact with healthcare personnel outside of acute care settings. These community healthcare settings include but are not limited to, schools; primary care centers including Federally Qualified Health Centers; non-hospital-based locations where walk-in and same-day services are available including pharmacies, pharmacy-based clinics, vaccination clinics, and mobile health units; home healthcare; workplaces; faith-based clinics; and other local community settings where healthcare is provided (e.g., WIC centers, Senior Centers, Health Fairs, etc.). Acute healthcare settings, including but not limited to hospitals and emergency departments, are excluded. This NOFO requires a Plan for Enhancing Diverse Perspectives (PEDP), which will be assessed as part of the scientific and technical peer-review evaluation. Award: Up to $500,000. Geographic Scope: Nationwide
