Heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 3 killers of adult Texans.1 Our job is to reduce death and disability caused by heart disease and stroke in Texas. We work with partners around the state to make sure heart disease and stroke remain a priority in health care, communities and work sites. We also plan statewide
activities and programs to address risk factors like high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, low physical activity, poor nutrition and tobacco use.
