For those companies that must
comply with the Preventive Control Rules, the food safety plan must be overseen
by a Preventive Control Qualified Individual.
“an individual who has successfully completed training in
the development and application
of risk-based
preventive
controls at least equivalent
to that received under
a standardized curriculum
recognized
as
adequate by FDA or
is otherwise qualified through job
experience to
develop
and apply a food safety system”
One of the
ways to meet this requirement is through the Preventive Controls for Human Food
training curriculum developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA). Currently,
this is the only curriculum recognized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The course must be approved and offered by an FSPCA Lead Instructor.
Courses are being held nationwide. Course fees vary based on the provider.
