In 1999, Sunset legislation authorized the establishment of the Governor’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Trauma Advisory Council (GETAC) to advise and make recommendations on developing and implementing Texas Emergency Healthcare System rules. The Governor appoints the council members.

GETAC Committee Applications
Interested in serving on a GETAC committee? Applications are being accepted through the month of September.

Due to tight timelines, applications received after 11:59 PM, September 30, 2024, will not be reviewed or considered.

Committee appointments are open to anyone seeking either a re-appointment or an initial appointment.

EMS/TS will work with the GETAC council chair and committee chairs to coordinate the selection process.

The announcement of new and/or re-appointed committee members will be made in November 2024. Committee terms begin January 1, 2025.

Note: If your appointment to a committee expires in 2024, you MUST reapply to be considered for re-appointment to that committee. To check when a term expires, visit the GETAC committee pages below to view current committee member rosters.
The 2025 GETAC Committee Application will open at 12:00 AM on September 1, 2024.
Newly appointed committee members serve a one-year term. Re-appointed committee members seeking consecutive terms serve a three-year term.
Education Opportunity
Texas Pediatric Readiness Education Series
The Texas Pediatric Readiness Improvement Project is a collaborative effort endorsed by the Governor’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Trauma Advisory Council (GETAC) to improve pediatric outcomes and support rural trauma centers in meeting the proposed Texas trauma rules slated to become effective in September 2024.
Beginning in January 2024, 1-hour virtual sessions will highlight evidence-based practices and resources for adoption in the emergency department, review standardized simulation cases, and integrate opportunities to engage in pediatric quality improvement efforts. The education series is available at no cost.
