OLE! Texas Resources

The following OLE! Texas resources are available: Professional development opportunities for designers, a child-friendly plant list, (check “child friendly box) development of demonstration sites and The Regulatory Framework for Outdoor Learning Environments in Texas Childcare Facilities. [pdf]

Demonstration Sites

Texas early childcare and education facilities (demonstration sites) that have improved outdoor learning environments are in Austin, Harris County, Lubbock, and San Antonio. Demonstration sites received a schematic from trained designers who completed the Natural Learning Initiative’s online “Designing Early Childhood Outdoor Environments” course and participated in a design workshop practicum.

Designer Training and Network

Designers can receive education and training to help implement the OLE! Texas initiative throughout the state. Texas Tech University is managing a two-part process in collaboration with the Natural Learning Initiative that includes an online training course and participation in a design workshop practicum. It is open to individuals with site design experience, including landscape architects, architects, design/build firms, landscape designers, master gardeners and others.

Texas Tech University also is developing a designer network to link trained designers with interested ECE programs. Join the designer network after completing OLE! Texas designer trainings. Learn how to be an OLE! Texas trained designer. [pdf]
