THISIS FAQ – Facilities

What do I do if I cannot find a facility in the provided list in a question package?

When you are in a question package (for questions related to this in the lab results tab, see question below) and you do not find a facility in a question/field that contains a searchable list, locate the question below that asks, “Do you want to create a new facility if you could not find your facility in system?”

Choose Yes from the dropdown menu for this question.

A set of child questions will appear and prompt you to input information about the facility you would like to add. Include as much information about the facility as possible, but you must include the name, primary phone number, type, and subtype of the new facility.

After entering information in these fields and completing the rest of the question package, click save before moving onto another page in THISIS. Clicking Save will trigger a notification for the facility manager at central office who will review the request and update THISIS accordingly.

What do I do if I cannot find a laboratory and/or facility in the provided list in the lab results section of THISIS?

If you are entering lab results in THISIS (in the lab results tab from within an event dashboard) and unable to find the performing laboratory, sending laboratory, or ordering facility in a field that contains a searchable list, such as one of the following:

You will need to enter information about the facility in the open fields (fields that begin with “New-Specify…”).

After entering information in these fields and inputting the rest of the lab result data, click save before adding new lab results or moving onto another page in THISIS. Clicking Save will trigger a notification for the facility manager at central office who will review the request and update THISIS accordingly.

Facility search activates the patients’ search dialogue box and not the facility search dialogue box.

This is a bug and has been reported to the developers. The search works correctly if you have the facility role, but it should work for everyone regardless of role or group

Could not add in the “Type of facility” because it has a default “Care_Facility.” This triggers a “Concern.”

The main facility type should always default to CARE_FACILITY, but the user should be able to select a facility sub-type. Central Office won’t know the sub-type, and it is part of the requirements for the user to be able to select that. Newly added facilities will be sent to a Central Office workflow for review.

Ever wonder why you're not finding facilities that you just KNOW must already be in the system?

It could be because using the Facility Name is too unreliable to begin your search.

Here’s why.

  1. Names of facilities can be abbreviated or shortened in a million different ways and your search is only going to return exactly what you ask for.
  2. Names of facilities also change or can be known in several different ways.
  3. The search field is Case sEnsitive.
  4. A facility can be at two different addresses, by the same name!

This makes for a LOT of ways to miss a facility when searching by name.

If you search for FACILITY and it’s in the system as FACILity, you won’t see it.

To ZOOM in on a facility, use the ADDRESS! ...(but not even all of it)

Street numbers and the first letter of the street name are surprisingly unique.

By starting your search using the

  • (1) street NUMBER and the
  • (2) FIRST letter of the street, (because who knows if the rest of the street is in the system in uppercase or lowercase)?
  • …And (3) an Asterisk (*) -That’s right, you need a wildcard and now you’ve got one-you can zero right in on a facility.

A search for 1234 N*

Will give you results for 1234 NOBBY HILL and things like 1234 North Bland

If you get too many results to wade through enter the city or use Suite numbers to narrow it down quickly.

1234 N*130* can return 1234 N. Ninth Ave., Sweet 1300 and 1234 NottingHAM Hwy 130 at the same time.

If you find you need to create a New Facility please always: include a complete name (even if it goes by an acronym or initials), address, phone, and best choice for sub-type of facility.
