The Texas Center for Infectious Disease (TCID) is a public health facility of the Department of State Health Services for the treatment of Tuberculosis. TCID's Outpatient Clinic also serves as one of the state's Hansen Disease Clinics. TCID is organized to provide patient care, scientific investigation, therapeutic and educational services supporting public health needs.
The mission of the Texas Center for Infectious Disease (TCID) is to provide high quality medical care, research, and professional education of providers for patients with hard to treat/cure tuberculosis (TB) and other related infectious and contagious diseases. Health care and diagnostic services will be provided to all referred patients:
- Ages sixteen through geriatrics.
- As part of the Department of State Health Services system supporting preventative and treatment services.
- Without regard to the ability to pay or other lawfully protected classification.
Texas Center for Infectious Disease is accredited by the Joint Commission , which grants deemed status for Medicare certification, Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization, which set standards for, and evaluates health care organizations in accordance with nationally recognized guidelines. The standards include an organization's level of performance in key functional areas such as: patient rights, patient treatment and infection control. They also focus on the hospital's ability to provide safe, high-quality care. To earn and maintain accreditation, an organization must undergo an on-site survey by a Joint Commission survey team at least every three years.
