Seafood and Aquatic Life



To protect consumers from contaminants, disease or other health hazards transmissible or found in fish and shellfish.


To accomplish our mission, we will:

  • Classify molluscan shellfish (i.e., oysters, clams, and mussels) growing areas.
  • Certify molluscan shellfish shippers and crab meat processors.
  • Approve importation of processed crab meat.
  • Test fish, shellfish, and aquatic life tissue samples from public waters of Texas.
