Health Facility Compliance Division - Public Health Region 4/5N
The Health Facility Licensing and Compliance Division (HFLCD) surveys health care facilities. These facilities must take part in the federal certification program and/or state licensing statutes regulate them. Federal grant awards, licensing fees, and the state of Texas general revenue funds the division. The division’s goal is assuring high quality care to the people of Texas. They track health care delivery by regulated health care facilities.
The HFLCD has six (6) distinct areas or zones. They staff each office according to the number and type of health care facilities within its boundaries. Surveyors travel from these offices to providers in their zone, which saves travel costs and time. Surveys are also scheduled with providers in geographical clusters. This saves additional costs are realized.
This division assures compliance with state and federal requirements for maintenance of quality health care delivery. It inspects:
- Hospitals,
- Ambulatory surgery centers,
- Laboratories,
- Renal dialysis centers,
- Physical therapy clinics,
- Rural health clinics, and
- All other health facilities except long term care.
