WHAT: Texas Emergency Medical Services Conference 2012

WHERE: Hilton Austin, 500 E. Fourth St., and Austin Convention Center, 500 E. Cesar Chavez St.
WHO: More than 2,500 emergency care workers from throughout Texas will attend an annual education conference sponsored by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Emergency medical technicians, paramedics, medical first responders, emergency managers, trauma nurses, emergency physicians, firefighters and law enforcement officers will learn the latest in emergency patient care in more than 170 classes.
High Angle Rescue – 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Austin Fire Department Drill Tower, 517 S. Pleasant Valley.
Cave Rescue training – 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Goat Cave Nature Preserve, 3838 Deer Lane.
Managing Excited Delirium – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Hilton Austin. Rescue workers practice best techniques for patient and rescuer safety.
Advanced Hazmat Life Support – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, at Austin Convention Center. Emergency personnel train to handle
chemical and biological responses.
EMS equipment and vehicles on display, including two rescue helicopters and 40 ambulances – 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday; 8 to
11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Austin Convention Center among 170,000 square feet of exhibit space.
Texas EMS Awards – 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at Austin Convention Center. Luncheon will honor EMS leaders in 12 categories.
