Texas Emergency Medical Services Conference 2007

More than 2,500 emergency care workers from throughout Texas to attend annual education conference sponsored by Texas Department of State Health Services. Emergency medical technicians, paramedics, emergency department physicians, trauma nurses, firefighters and law enforcement officers will learn the latest in emergency patient care in more than 150 classes.


Rescue workers get hands-on experience in the fundamentals of air operations in a Helicopter Operations at EMS Incidents class; 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 17, Ellington Field, 11900 Old Galveston Rd , Houston .

Rescue workers will learn and practice high angle techniques such as rappelling; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17, Houston Fire Department Training Center, 8030 Braniff, Houston.

Responders will practice rope systems and confined space rescue operations; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 18, Houston Fire Department Training Center, 8030 Braniff, Houston .

Keynote address by Dr. James “Red” Duke, surgeon, Memorial Hermann Hospital, Houston, and former writer and producer of the nationally syndicated Texas Health Reports; 8:15 a.m. Nov. 19.

Texas EMS Awards Luncheon honoring EMS leaders in 13 categories begins at noon Nov. 20, Hilton Americas-Houston, Lanier Grand Ballroom. Photo session to follow luncheon.
