What is MONAHRQ?
MONAHRQ® is a tool that analyzes, summarizes, and presents healthcare information in a ready-to-use format for consumers and other decision makers on:
- Quality of care at the hospital level;
- Health care utilization at the hospital level;
- Preventable hospitalizations at the area level;
- Rates of conditions and procedures at the area level; and
- Estimated costs and cost-savings related to the quality of care.
Data presented in the MONAHRQ® tool come from a variety of
sources, such as the Texas Health Care Information Collection (THCIC) Public Use Data Files (PUDF),
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) “Hospital Compare” data and
Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey data.
Those that do come from the CMS data only address Medicare Patient
experience. Data on quality and safety at the hospital level come from the
THCIC Quality Indicators reports (Indicators of
Inpatient Care in Texas Hospitals and Quality of Children’s Care in Texas Hospitals). More information on THCIC data—including hospital
Public Use Data File comments (2011 First Quarter (159 KB), Second Quarter (166 KB), Third Quarter (170 KB) and Fourth Quarter (160 KB))
and the hospitals comments from the Quality indicators—can be found on the THCIC web-site.
